Translator Tells All (Die Gläserne Übersetzerin), live translation

Irma Wehrli-Rudin provides insight into the process of translating short prose works by American author Thomas Wolfe (1900–38) from English into German. What are the pleasures of working between these languages? Where do the pitfalls lie in Wolfe’s prose? What constitutes a successful translation? The audience is invited to engage with these questions. Irma Wehrli-Rudin is a professional literary translator with a passion for classic English and American authors of the 19^th and 20^th century. In 2011, she was awarded the Dialog-Werkstatt Zug translation grant.
