Corporate Health Solutions: Health Research in the Working World

Georg Bauer, Rebecca Brauchli, and Gregor Jenny from the Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Prevention Institute examine the theme of work and health at three levels: the individual, the team, and the business level. Their research centers on questions such as: “What motivates and invigorates you at work. What wears you out?” “Why do you (still) go to work (willingly) every morning?” The results confirm our everyday experience of the two faces of work: it can be overburdening, exhausting, and make us ill, but it is also a source of personal development, recognition, and pleasure. This project has enabled the team to determine the factors decisive for recovery and for ensuring that the development of individuals and teams alike is conducive to good health. These findings served as the basis for the “e-Coach” for work organizations, an online tool developed jointly with ETH Zurich and the University of St. Gallen. The spin-off Corporate Health Solutions (chsolutions.ch) has been launched to market the product.
